TRAINING ON HUMANITARIAN PRINCIPLES, LAWS AND STANDARDS
TRAINING MODULES
The theme of this guided self-training section is humanitarian principles, laws and standards. It is to be noted that it will not cover the sector-related technical standards, like the sector-related technical part of the sphere standards. After completing the proposed guided self-training modules, you will know more about these humanitarian principles, laws and standards, thanks to a training composed of several topics and training units (level). Under this particular theme, all the training materials proposed are composed of external materials that have been carefully selected and organised in such a way as to meet the expected training needs, facilitate and encourage self-learning. At this stage, no Medair-specific or no training modules or units elaborated by Medair are referenced.
For each of these topics a “cover page” will present to you the complete training module and the different training units on the subject.
In relation to the Code of Conduct and the Sphere Humanitarian charter. These topics include three training levels, called training units:
- Training unit – Basic level: This unit constitutes an introduction to the principles. It is a short training which enables you to have an overall view on the subject.
- Training unit – Intermediate level: This unit enables you to understand the principles in more depth. To follow-up and learn what is proposed in this level you will need more time.
- Training unit – Advanced level: This unit, according to the situation, will be either a detailed review of the subject (for example a training unit that will take a longer period of time to be completed) or a link to another subject in connection with the principles.
For each of the other topics proposed the presentation is simpler.
For each topic (except the topic on protection) related references and legal documents (in italic) are attached.
Depending on your needs and availability, you can choose to only read the materials in the training units you are interested in or decide to follow up the complete training proposed.
By clicking on each of the proposed links inserted in each cover page of the sub-folders, you will be redirected to a new window which gives you:
- The link,
- The type of material (document to read, e-learning, video, website, PowerPoint, Glossary, FAQ),
- The original website of the document (to get to know the source and to be able to explore the whole website, if you are interested)
- The time to spend to complete the training unit or its length
- A summary of the training unit,
- The explanation on how to get into this training unit.
According to the different links, you will have to click on a “Download” button or on a “Web link” to obtain or gain access to the specific training materials proposed.
